Adam May (Partner)
MA(Hons), ADHP(NC), MNRHP

Adam is an experienced training consultant working mainly for not-for-profit organisations and local authorities.

Adam has been a volunteer with several organisations including The Winged Fellowship Trust, Adult Literacy, Chester Aid To The Homeless, Talking Books For The Blind, Gay Switchboard, Camphill Village Trust, Amnesty International, Campaign Coffee and Third World First. He has also managed volunteers for a disability charity, an NHS summer playscheme and Community Service Volunteers.

Adam was an associate trainer for the National Centre for Volunteering (now Volunteering England) for over ten years. For the past three years, working through AM Training, in partnership with Volunteering England Adam has designed the national, professional training programme for people who manage volunteers. These courses are delivered at a variety of sites through the UK.

Adam was Lead Tutor for the University of Wales Higher Education Certificate in Volunteer Management And The Voluntary Sector course which he taught between 2002 and 2005. The course ran in both Cardiff and Bangor.

Adam was Series Consultant for Voluntary Matters Three TV series which was broadcast December 2001 on BBC2. He writes regularly for Volunteering Magazine. He has written training materials for many organisations such as University College, Lampeter, Community service Volunteers, and The National Trust.

Adam delivers courses in Communication Skills in a Medical Setting for health service staff, and courses in Management Skills for teacher-managers.

In addition to his training work, Adam has a thriving psychotherapy practice on Anglesey in North Wales where he lives. His psychotherapy skills complement his training; consequently he is able to assist staff groups with team working and group facilitation. He provides individual supervision, both telephone and face to face and has supervised people working in volunteer management, the NHS, and youth and community work as well as counsellors and psychotherapists.

Adam is a UKCP registered Hypnotherapist and a BABCP registered Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapist. He is a Licensed Practitioner of HSF holds a University of Dundee Masters degree with Honours in English and Psychology. He has a Postgraduate Certificate in CBT Supervision.

Robin is a partner and training consultant for A M Training. He became a trainer in the late 1980's, and has specialised in Communication, Personal Development, Parenting and Volunteer Management since 1994. He also delivers 'Developing Men Friendly Organisations' and 'Active Dads' training throughout the UK.

Robin designs and delivers training in Emotional Intelligence, Self Esteem Enhancement, Motivation and Living Purposefully, Volunteer Management, Facilitation Skills and Communication.

He is the North West representative for Speakersbank, a national network of speakers and trainers in communication and interpersonal skills.

Being a single parent and step parent has added personal experience and insight to the 1998 training Robin received from Parentline Plus. Recent work has included piloting Parenting Workshops as part of the Blueprint Scheme, a Home Office Funded project involving 29 schools, and the design and delivery of Parenting Workshops for the BBC's 'Get Parenting!' programme.

Robin is also a Life Coach, specialising in Father Coaching.

He uses his experience, interpersonal and group facilitating skills to generate enthusiasm and commitment in those with whom he interacts in a training and mentoring role, and has also employed these skills in the music field for more than 20 years. He owned a professional music recording studio for five years, and continues as a musician and music tutor.


Neil Irving (Associate Trainer)

Neil Irving has provided training and consultancy to voluntary and community organisations for over 15 years, particularly around Volunteering, Governance, Business Planning, and improving relationships between volunteers, paid staff and trustees.

Neil designed and delivers the "Keeping Yourself And Your Volunteers On The Right Side Of The Law" course .

Neil is chief executive of a voluntary and community sector infrastructure organisation in Yorkshire. Previous jobs have included managing volunteers working with young people, managing volunteers providing social care services and running a volunteer bureau. He is also the chair of the trustees of a regional charity, a trustee of a grant making foundation, and a voluntary ranger in a national park.

Neil has postgraduate qualifications in community work and management, and is a member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI).
